Solar PV and heat pump: a winning combination

100% renewable energy: solar panels power the heat pump to bring emissions and bills close to zero.

Solar panels use the sun's rays to create clean, carbon-free electricity, absorbing sunlight through photovoltaic cells. Usually installed on the roof, they harness the power of the sun to produce energy.

This energy powers the home and systems such as the heat pump, which needs only a small amount of electricity to turn outside air into heat for the house.

Solar panels and heat pumps can work in synergy to heat the home using 100% renewable energy: the panels produce electricity from sunlight and can power any electrical device, including heat pumps.

By installing a heat pump with solar panels, or combining it with a green energy tariff, the home's carbon emissions will be practically zero and bills will fall sharply too.

Heat pumps transfer energy rather than generating it: they are up to four times more efficient than gas boilers and rarely need maintenance, just like solar panels.

For installation, our energy consultants carry out a free home energy assessment for the heat pump and solar panels. The initial investment is strongly offset by tax incentives such as the ecobonus, and the system can be paid in convenient instalments with a 15-year warranty.

Both solar panels and heat pumps have a much longer life cycle than a traditional gas boiler, lasting 15 to 20 years for a heat pump and up to 40 years for solar panels. Combining the two is a strategic decision that makes the home sustainable, ecologically and economically.
