Underfloor heating and cooling: everything you need to know
Even comfort through radiation, indicative costs and tailored Simplex components for the most common underfloor radiant system.
Thinking about an underfloor system for winter heating and summer cooling? Discover why it is increasingly common in modern homes and how Simplex Hydronic Technology produces superior components tailored to this system.
The radiant floor uses the large floor surface to spread heat or coolness evenly throughout the rooms.
In heating mode, low-temperature hot water (generally between 30° and 40°C) flows through pipes laid under the floor. Heat radiates upwards, warming the room evenly, with no draughts or airborne dust.
In cooling mode, the same circuit carries cold water: the floor absorbs the room's heat and transfers it to the chilled water, keeping a pleasant indoor temperature.
It is a silent, invisible and highly energy-efficient system. The cost of an underfloor system varies with materials, surface area and project complexity, indicatively between €70 and €120 per m² installed, and the initial investment can be recovered over time thanks to energy savings and available tax incentives.
Simplex Hydronic Technology produces the key radiant-system components for the main European brands: manifolds, valves, control groups, fixing systems and much more. Every part is made of top-quality materials, designed to last and to offer maximum efficiency and ease of installation.
